powerful legal counsel
to get you moving
Nick Albu’s clients credit him for being creative, candid and aggressive.
Nick represents Northern Virginia owners, developers and builders in zoning and land use disputes as well as real estate transactions.
Nick’s clients engage him when high-stakes disputes with local governments concerning residential, commercial, industrial and data center projects require strategic pre-litigation counsel and effective advocacy in Virginia’s trial and appellate courts. He protects his clients’ property rights from government overreach in challenges involving vested rights, by-right development, zoning ordinance amendments, zoning determinations, plan disapprovals, rezoning denials, regulatory takings and inverse condemnation, unconstitutional conditions, piecemeal downzonings, zoning permits, proffers, BZA decisions and special exception permits.
In addition, Nick strategically and efficiently manages complex real estate transactions for his clients.
Beyond his zoning and land use practice, Nick represents privately held companies and individuals in high-stakes litigation. He tries cases and arbitrates matters involving fiduciary claims, shareholder actions, contract disputes, real property and easement disputes, complex torts, fraud, tortious interference, conspiracy, defamation and misappropriation.
Previously, Nick was a litigation partner in the Global Commercial Disputes group of Reed Smith LLP.
Nick attended Washington and Lee University School of Law and Appalachian State University. He is admitted to the Virginia State Bar and practices in Virginia’s state and federal courts. He lives in Purcellville, Virginia with his wife and two daughters. You can connect with Nick here.
